Meet Darlene
Our Optician/Management

With 12 years of experience, Darlene enjoys helping our patients find the right eyewear for their life style. Knowledgeable in many eyewear brands and the latest lens technology, Darlene is always eager to assist patients in understanding their eyewear options.

Meet Heather
Our Optometric Assistant

Each patient has the pleasure of working with Heather as she obtains important medical and eye care history for their exam, and performs preliminary testing. Heather also educates patients on contact lens care and happily addresses any questions. With 15 years experience in the medical field, including eight years in eye care, she assists Dr. Waguespack in all aspects of patient care.

Meet Bobbie
Insurance Specialist

Bobbie has worked with Dr. Waguespack since 2003, helping with front desk duties, contact lens care and frame styling. Bobbie’s bright smile, cheerful attitude and willingness to learn new tasks has made her invaluable.

Bobbie has recently moved to the insurance department. She helps our patient understand and maximize the use of their managed care benefits.


Dr. Wendy A. Waguespack

Dr. Waguespack began practice in August 1980 at the Eye Care and Surgery Center in Baton Rouge, La. Dr. Waguespack directed the Contact Lens Clinic and performed primary eye care, pre- and post-op cataract care and a-scans. She also practiced primary care optometry at a multidisciplinary medical center, Stanacola Medical Clinic. In 1990, Dr. Waguespack started her own solo practice where she particularly enjoys working in several specialty areas, including dry eye treatment, bifocal and special design contact lenses, glaucoma treatment, pre- and post-op laser vision correction, and low vision rehabilitation.

Dr. Waguespack is therapeutically certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease. She is a member of the American Optometric Association (Contact Lens and Cornea Section and Low Vision Section member) and Optometry Association of Louisiana and former liaison to the Southern Council of Optometry.

A native New Orleanian, Dr. Waguespack attended St. Joseph Academy on a full academic scholarship and graduated Valedictorian and Outstanding Senior. She went on to major in psychology at the University of New Orleans, compiling a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She next attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham/School of Optometry where she received a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics and Doctor of Optometry graduating summa cum laude in 1980. She is a member of the International Optometric Honor Fraternity Beta Sigma Kappa.

Dr. Waguespack has lived in Baton Rouge since 1980 and has one son who attends LSU. She enjoys jazzercise, strength training, reading, good south Louisiana cuisine, singing with Sweet Adelines and traveling. She also enjoys LSU sports and has become an ardent supporter and “alumni by choice.”

Dr. Brett Carlin

Dr. Brett Carlin is a native of New Iberia, Louisiana and graduated Valedictorian from Westgate High School. He then went on to receive his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University. After graduation, Dr. Carlin relocated to Houston, Texas where he earned his Doctorate in Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Dr. Carlin completed a Clinical Externship at the South Texas VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas where he gained experience in treatment of ocular injuries and diseases including glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, neurological disorders, traumatic brain injury, and many other conditions. He then went on to complete another Clinical Externship at Acadian Vision Associates in Lafayette, Louisiana where he trained in primary eye care, contact lens fittings, co-management of pre- and post-surgical patients, as well as treatment of ocular disease.

Dr. Carlin is national board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and state board certified glaucoma specialist. He is also a member of the American and Louisiana Optometric Associations. In his spare time, Dr. Carlin enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, traveling, and attending art museums and plays.

Dr. Carlin will be seeing patients Wednseday afternoons as well as all day Thursday (Office Hours).
